Mr. Surya Kiran Gurung is the Chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Before being appointed as the Chairperson to TRC, Mr. Gurung was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation from November 2007 to February 2012 and was the Secretary General to Parliament of Nepal from 2003 to November 2007 and Secretary to the House of Representatives (1992 – 2003). The five-member Truth and Reconciliation Commission has been constituted by the decision of the Government of Nepal, Council of Ministers dated 10 February 2015 in accordance with the Enforced Disappearances Enquiry, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2014.
